Lee's Summit, MO— Two projects to improve Route 150 from Route 71 to Route 291 have been awarded by the Missouri Highways & Transportation Commission, setting the stage for construction to begin late this summer.
Reconstruction of the Route 150 interchange at Route 71 includes removal and replacement of the Route 71 bridges over Route 150. The crossroads will be reconfigured asa single-point, urban interchange. Also included will be new bridges carrying the east and west outer roads over Route 150.
The widening of Route 150 from just east of Route 71 to Grandview to just west of Route 291 in Lee's Summit will lower hills, fill valleys and provide two 11-foot-wide lanes in each direction.
Both the interchange and the widening projects are expected to be completed by late 2010. Clarkson Construction Co. is the contractor for both projects, which total more than $47 million.
