Icahn Goes After Oshkosh

October 12, 2012

Numerous financial outlets are reporting that high-profile investor and Navistar shareholder Carl Icahn has put in a bid for Oshkosh.

Icahn, who already holds more than 9 percent of Oshkosh stock, has offered $32.50 a share, which caused Oshkosh stock to zoom up 11.4 percent, to $29.50, in trading yesterday.

Some analysts have called Icahn's offer too low. Oshkosh shareholders had rejected Icahn's hand-picked board candidates last January. Icahn has gone on record saying he is not interested in merging Oshkosh with the troubled Navistar, where he already has already gained board representation after some contention.
