The I-35W Bridge opened on September 18 to traffic, but construction work continues under the bridge near piers on both sides of the Mississippi River.
A crew is moving rocks from a pile and placing them around the south observation deck and loading a barge to carry the rocks to the north side under the bridge.
West River Road and a walking trail are now complete on the south side of the river. Crews continue to grade near the piers and place rocks on the graded areas.
On the north side, crews continue to finish the observation deck around the piers. Grading from the abutment to the road and from the observation deck to the river continues. A truck carrying rocks is loaded on the barge to the north side, where the rocks will be placed on the slopes.
Crews will clean up under the bridge after the observation decks are complete and all rocks have been placed. Final grading on the south side slopes near the tunnel will be the last construction project at the bridge site.
