The busy lighted intersection of US 259 and State Highway 155 north of Ore City near Gilmer in northeast Texas will be replaced with a grade-separated interchange. H.H. Howard and Sons, Inc. of Daingerfield was awarded the TxDOT contract with a low bid of $10.1 million.

The first phase of construction will be building the on and off ramps between the two highways. Traffic on US 259 will be moved onto the ramps, and temporary signal lights will be installed at each intersection to control traffic. Work will begin in April and last approximately two years.

"We will be constructing two overpasses on US 259 that will cross over SH 155," said Kenneth Williams, area engineer for TxDOT in Gilmer. "This should help improve mobility on both highways and also decrease the number of accidents at this intersection."
