At a recent conference, David Michaels, administrator, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), shared a very telling piece of information. Michaels revealed that one of the biggest ways to get inspected by OSHA is to report injuries as worker error rather than finding the root cause.
“When employers say an injury was a worker’s fault, an inspection will likely take place,” said Michaels.
Even if workers make mistakes or disobey rules, try to find out what it is that caused them to take the shortcut — and made them think they could get away with it.
