House Passes 3-Month Highway Bill

July 30, 2015

The House voted 385-34 to approve $8 billion for transportation funding through Oct. 29, and then began its summer recess, reports The Hill.

The measure would generate $8 billion in new Highway Trust Fund (HTF) revenues to prevent the U.S. Department of Transportation from having to slow down reimbursements in August for already underway federal-aid projects, according to The Hill.

The Senate is expected to also adopt the measure, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., plans to keep the Senate in session next week to finalize a six-year transportation measure.

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, expressed his support for the adoption of a long-term bill after the break.
