The House of Representatives has approved a two-month funding extension for transportation projects.
The extension passed in a 387-to-35 vote with one member voting present, and continues funding of the Highway Trust Fund through July 31. The Senate must now take up the measure with two days left before its Memorial Day holiday recess, The New York Times reports. Funding is set to expire on May 31, which falls during the chamber's week-long holiday.
Congress has passed numerous short-term extensions since the last longer-term plan expired in 2009, often approving bills just before leaving Washington for a recess.
