With only weeks remaining until the May 31 deadline, members of Congress seem confident a highway funding extension will materialize. The key question, however, is how long that extension will be.
Will it be through July, through September to get states past their summer work, or through the end of the year? According to The Hill, Republicans are working to make sure infrastructure projects can be funded through this summer. But Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said the GOP has been giving the issue short shrift.
"There'll be something done," Senator Jon Thune (R-S.D.) said this week.
