Here's Your Fine - Mega Construction Company Cited Again

March 8, 2016

How many deaths will it take to get Alabama-based Mega Construction Company's attention? Maybe a $92,400 fine will get their notice.

OSHA issued two repeat citations to Mega Construction based in Robertsdale, Alabama, for failing to provide fall protection equipment for employees working from heights up to 9 feet. The company has had 12 inspections in the last 5 years, including after a 25-year old worker died from a fall on one of their building sites in 2013

The repeat citations were written for unsafe working condition at the Bellaton subdivision and Dunmore subdivision in Daphne.

"It is extremely disturbing that, after a dozen inspections and a workplace fatality, Mega Construction continues to violate OSHA's fall protection requirements," said Joseph Roesler, OSHA's area director in Mobile. "Our goal is to use firm, fair and consistent enforcement to ensure voluntary compliance."

Based in Robertsdale, Alabama, Mega Construction has 15 business days from receipt of its citations and proposed $92,400 in penalties to comply, request a conference with OSHA's area director, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
