Free Online Directory Targets State's Construction Waste

Staff | September 28, 2010

WasteCap Wisconsin has launched Wisconsin's first online directory of reuse and recycling markets for the state's construction and demolition waste.

The directory, WasteCapDIRECT, is a free service that helps contractors connect with haulers, processors and end markets for some of Wisconsin's most common construction and demolition waste materials.

"This will be a very useful tool for construction professionals in Wisconsin," said David Shoemaker, director of construction management for Boldt Construction. "I look forward to using it on our projects."

The directory covers asphalt, brick, cardboard, carpet and carpet padding, ceiling tiles, concrete, drywall, metal, pallets, shingles, reusable items, and wood.

According to the 2003 Wisconsin Statewide Waste Characterization Study, nearly a third of the solid waste in Wisconsin's landfills is construction and demolition debris.

Companies that haul, process or accept construction and demolition waste in Wisconsin should contact WasteCap Wisconsin at (414) 961-1100 to be listed in the directory.
