Last month, viewers of ConstructionEquipment. com's Web-based seminar on GPS technology were asked their opinion on how quickly the technology would become broadly accepted. Here's what they thought.

On Nov. 17, 2004, Construction Equipment hosted its premier Web cast event, entitled "GPS and Machine Control Technology." More than 700 people registered to participate in the free event, which was sponsored by Topcon, Trimble and Caterpillar.

The Web-based seminar featured interviews of contractors currently using GPS technology on the job. Rod Sutton, Editor in Chief, moderated the discussions. Contractors on the panel included: Jonathon Chupps, Kokosing Construction; Chuck Counts, Steven Counts Inc.; Chris Kaufmann, Northwest Excavation; and Pat Ruelle, McAninch Corp. A live Q&A discussion concluded the Web cast, with attendees asking the panelists about their operations and experiences with GPS.

If you missed the live Web cast, you can listen to the archived version on It will be available until Feb. 17, 2005.
