Four AGC Members Honored for Safety

San Antonio, Texas— The Associated General Contractors of America presented AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards to four Oregon contractors in recognition of their proven safety records and cultural commitments to safety. The awards were announced at AGC's 88th Annual Convention held in San Antonio.

San Antonio, Texas— The Associated General Contractors of America presented AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards to four Oregon contractors in recognition of their proven safety records and cultural commitments to safety. The awards were announced at AGC's 88th Annual Convention held in San Antonio.

First-place Construction Safety Excellence Award winners include:

Specialty Contractor, over 1 million work hours — E C Company, Portland, Ore.

Highway Division, 100,001–300,000 work hours — Hamilton Construction Co., Springfield, Ore.

Highway Division, over 1 million work hours — LTM Inc., Medford, Ore.

Second-place Construction Safety Excellence Award winners include:

Specialty Contractor, 100,001–300,000 work hours — New Tech Electric, Portland, Ore.

AGC's awards program requires finalists to achieve zero worksite fatalities and examines the contractor's safety program. Entrants undergo a thorough screening process to ensure that their company has a commitment to a safe work site at every level of employment and has a successful safety training program, worksite hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation. At the convention, finalists presented their safety program to a panel of safety experts from organizations including GLY Construction Inc., of Bellevue, Wash.

AGC also presented a Northwest project with one of its 2007 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Awards.

Nova Group Inc. of Napa, Calif., won the award in recognition for its work on the CVN Drydock Floor Repairs project at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Wash.
