First of 4 States Approves $3.6 Billion Dakota Access Pipeline

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved a construction permit for the $3.8 billion Dakota Access Pipeline, reports The News Tribune.

The 1,130-mile pipeline would transport 450,000 barrels of crude oil daily from the Bakken oil patch in western North Dakota to Illinois, passing through South Dakota and Iowa.

South Dakota is the first of the four states to approve the project
