Beta testing is under way for B4UFLY, a smartphone app that provides unmanned aircraft operators with UAS flying restrictions in effect in certain locations.

The app plots an operator’s location on a map and shows whether or not they are too close to an airport or other areas restricted from unmanned aircraft flights.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released BQUFLY to approximately 1,000 beta testers, including members of industry, government and the public.

The beta test is expected to run for several months, before the FAA plans to release a final version of B4UFLY to the general public for both iOS and Android devices.
