Deere & Co. swung to a quarterly profit as rising commodity prices boosted sales of farm equipment, but issued a disappointing profit forecast for next year.

The Moline, Ill., company said rising material costs, increased expenses for complying with new engine emissions regulations in the U.S. and other overhead expenses will provide headwinds for expanding profits next year.
