Diesel Demand Highlights Improving Economy

A recent study concluded that shippers are starting to see a little daylight after a long period marked by huge declines in goods movement, and some trucking companies in Inland Southern California say they're seeing it too.

The Ceridian-UCLA Pulse of Commerce study, which measures the pace of the economy by charting how much diesel fuel is being purchased, grew by 1 percent in March. The increase put fuel sales in positive territory for the year and wiped out a February decline, part of which was blamed on the East Coast's snowy weather.
