Kansas City, MO— The Weitz Co. recently completed renovations at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in just 10 weeks. Designed by Guy Gronberg Architects, Lee's Summit, MO, Weitz successfully finished the project while the dental school remained open for business.

The project involved gutting the existing Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency/faculty practice clinic on the second floor down to the core with new plumbing and electrical installed directly above the ceiling of the first floor. More than 300 core holes were drilled into the slab, which required intensive coordination with the owner, architect and subcontractors to avoid hitting existing rebar and conduit. Extensive evening and weekend work minimized disruptions throughout the project schedule.

Other interior renovations included casework and installation of new dental chairs and X-ray equipment.
