Nearly three out of four general building contractors say they usually rent equipment from rental stores, as does a similar portion of people with smaller fleets (valued at less than $500,000). The larger the fleet, however, the more likely its manager rents (and buys new or used) equipment from a factory-authorized equipment dealer. Three out of four managers of fleets worth $10 million or more rent from a dealer.
