The outlook for the construction industry remains dim, and some contractors believe recovery is still years away as they watch construction account for a mere 3 percent of the nation's economic output.

Ken Simonson, AGC's chief economist, tells the Detroit Free Press that 3 percent is a historic low, and the number should be 4 or 5 percent.
