A hydraulics failure caused the boom of a truck crane to collapse and kill the owner of the construction company operating the machine. Trevor Loftus, 40, was the owner of Kenry Construction, and had been working at a New York City hotel construction site, according to the New York Fire Department.
A press officer with the fire department said the death was caused by a “mechanical malfunction, not a construction collapse.”
The truck belonged to Kenry Contracting Inc., a masonry construction company based in Yonkers, N.Y., which was issued a work permit for the site, according to Department of Building records.
