Construction Unemployment Rate Down

May 9, 2012

The industry's unemployment rate dropped to a four-year low in April, shrinking to 14.5 percent, according to an AGC analysis.

The construction industry lost 2,000 jobs in April, following similar declines in March and February, but added 63,000 jobs over the past year. Still, growing more jobs in the construction sector is hampered by budget cuts and the lack of long-term transportation funding, said AGC officials in a report by CityBizList.com/Washington.
