Construction to Resume on $1.4 Billion Telescope Project in Hawaii

June 22, 2015

Construction on the $1.4 billion Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) project in Hawaii is set to resume, reports CBS News. Work halted when protestors objected to another observatory being built atop of the Big Island’s Mauna Kew volcano, project officials said.

Gov. David Ige of Hawaii said he supported the TMT project and will issue a list of 10 demands for the University of Hawaii, which holds the master lease to the site of the observatory.
