Construction is booming in Florida and local contractors are looking towards an untapped resource to fill the building labor shortage.
In southwest Florida, BCB Homes is working with Collier County's Career & Technical Education Programs to expose recent high school grads to jobs and careers. “One of the top industries in Collier County is construction,” said Eric Morris, vice president of BCB Homes. “We need these kids because our workforce is aging and if they don’t come do it, then who is?”
Morris notes that because the Collier County and Naples area is an expensive place to live, getting skilled labor to come to the area is difficult. Working with young grads already in the area is one solution to the problem.
