Bossier Louisiana Sheriff’s Office deputies, members of the Bossier Parish Fire District, and Bossier Parish EMS responded to a fire Friday morning off of Highway 80 that destroyed wood-clearing construction equipment. The John Deere wood shearer, valued at about $220,000, was a total loss. Firefighters speculate the fire was caused by a wiring malfunction.

The machinery was being used to clear timber in the woods around the 5700 block of Highway 80, about a mile west of Highway 157. No one was injured, and although some adjacent trees caught fire, firefighters were able to contain the fire to just that area.
