City Officials Release Updates on Bayonne Bridge Construction

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey released a series of updates on the “Raise the Roadway” project on the Bayonne Bridge.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey released a series of updates on the “Raise the Roadway” project on the Bayonne Bridge, reports nj.com.

The construction project began in May 2013 and is designed to raise the navigational clearance under the crossing to 215 feet to allow larger ships to pass under it.

Project updates include:

  • At Pier N2 pier erection is in progress above the deck;
  • At Pier N3 pier erection has been completed;
  • Piers N4 and N5 pier erection has been completed;
  • Pier erection has been completed at Piers N6 and N7;
  • At Pier N8 pier erection has been completed;
  • At Pier N9 (Between Gertrude Street and 3rd Street), a pipe strut has been installed to support the installation of pier caps;
  • At Pier N10 and N11 pier construction and roadway segment installation have been completed;
  • At Pier N12 , Pier N13 and Pier N14 pier construction and roadway segment installation have been completed; and
  • At Pier N15 (abutment), pier construction and roadway segment installation have been completed.
