Chicago Construction Worker Dies in Sewer Flood

Gustavo Briceno Jr., a 25-year-old worker employed by Kenny Construction, died Wednesday night performing sewer maintenance when flash floods swept through the Chicago area, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Gustavo Briceno Jr., a 25-year-old worker employed by Kenny Construction, died Wednesday night performing sewer maintenance when flash floods swept through the Chicago area, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Briceno was working with another employee when he removed his harness to reach a space 30 inches in diameter, the report says. Briceno was swept away by the rushing water and rescue workers found his body two hours later in the Chicago River a block from where he had been working.

According to the Tribune, OSHA is investigating the incident.
