The major barriers women continue to face in working in construction include discrimination, isolation, harassment and overall lack of work, reports the StarTribune.

The National Women’s Law Center reports that just 2.6 percent of construction workers are women.

Organizations such as MNTradeswoman.org, an apprenticeship program for women aimed at retaining tradeswomen on the job, are working towards equal opportunity and career advancement for women in construction.
