Employment at CF industries is expected to reach 4,000 jobs at construction of its 325-acre fertilizer plant, more than double original labor projections, reports Sioux City Journal.

Nick DeRoos, general manager and project director of  the $2 billion Port Neal nitrogen complex is about 50 percent complete.

“We’re overstaffing to push progress quicker so we can still get done in late first quarter, early second quarter and so we can be up and running by the middle of 2016,” DeRoos told Sioux City Journal.

To keep the project on track, workers are logging longer hours, punching in six days a week and every other Sunday, and averaging 65 hours per week.
