Caterpillar Lowers Expectations on Chinese Demand for Excavators

November 23, 2015

Caterpillar warned that it does not expect the sale of excavators to China to return to peak levels in 2010 and 2012, reports PJ Star.

"For China specifically, our expectation is that the market will rebound but we are not planning (for it to) get back to 2011/2012 levels," Tom Pellette Caterpillar’s group president for construction industry equipment said that the company expects sales of excavators, told the London-based Times.

Pellette said industry-wide sales of hydraulic excavators between 22,045 and 198,416 lbs will total about 23,000 machines in China this year, compared to more than 112,000 in 2010.
