Caterpillar to Evaluate Peoria Headquarters

June 26, 2012

Caterpillar will take the next three to five months to evaluate its Peoria headquarters facilities to determine how and if to modernize the 45-year-old building. Published reports cite a desire to improve the building and technology, and quote a spokesman saying “all options are open.”

The comment has fueled speculation that the company may pull back its presence in Peoria. Chairman/CEO Doug Oberhelman has been outspoken in his criticism of Governor Pat Quinn’s tax increases on income and businesses, and recently asked graduates during a commencement address if they were mad enough to write to state leaders calling for change.
