Caterpillar's 2007 truck engine lineup will include a vocational version of its C13 that will cover applications now handled by the C11, which will be dropped. The new C13 will have ratings from 305 to 370 horsepower and 1,050 to 1,550 pounds-feet; its torque curve will favor low-end performance desired by current buyers of the C11, primarily mixer operators. Because there is little mechanical difference between the two models, the '07 C13V's weight of 2,610 pounds (including a diesel particulate filter) will be within 10 pounds of a C11. Cat engineers decided that customers would be better served by the higher-displacement engine. Linehaul versions of the '07 C13 will go to 470 horsepower and 1,750 lbs.-ft.
