Caterpillar's plans to renovate its Lafayette, Ind., logistics facility received support Monday evening when the Lafayette City Council approved a 10-year tax abatement request. This is Cat's second request.
Cat is expected to spend $54 million on building improvements, information technology software and equipment at the logistics center.
The Cat facility currently employs about 1,300 people. With the renovation, Cat expects to add 125 new full time jobs at a rate of about $27 an hour.
The renovation should be complete within 12 months.
