Caterpillar reports that its retail machine world sales were up 1 percent Y/Y in the three months ending April, with resources industries down 19 percent and construction industries up 8 percent.

In the North American market region, Cat's total machine sales were down 7 percent, with the North American construction segment dropping 4 percent.
However, Cat total machine world sales in Asia were up 47 percent and in the construction segment, Asia/Pacific sales were up 59 percent. Energy & transportation retail sales in the same period were down 2 percent with the greatest drop in the industrial industry segment. Oil & Gas showed a sales increase of 4 percent.
