Bomag Americas broke ground on the future site of the company’s new North American headquarters in Ridgeway, S.C. on Feb. 6, 2014.
In September, the company announced plans to close its current Kewanee, Ill., headquarters. Construction of the new building will begin in March and is expected to be completed in October 2014, which is when the manufacturer will begin the move from the Kewanee location.
“Our Kewanee facility has served Bomag well for decades with an exceptional workforce dedicated to the success of the company,” said Walter Link, president of Bomag Americas. “This new Ridgeway facility is strategically located and positions Bomag to meet our customer’s needs today and well into the future.”
The new 127,600-square-foot facility will house 107,100 square feet of spare parts warehousing and machine assembly area along with 20,500 square feet of office space.
“We believe this area offers our company several strategic benefits, such as: close to port of entry, proximity to an air hub for spare parts fulfillment and a climate conducive to offering year-round sales and service training for our customers,” Link said.
