John D. Correnti, a member of the Navistar Board of Directors since 1994, died August 18. He was 68. Correnti served most recently as chairman and chief executive officer of Big River Steel, LLC.
According to Bloomberg Business, Correnti had nearly 40 years of operations, management and board experiences in the steel industry. He started his career with U.S. Steel in 1969, before moving to Nucor in 1980, where he rose to serve as CEO of the company.
He founded Severstal Columbus, LLC in 2005 and served as its president and CEO from 2005 to January 2008.
As CEO of Big River Steel, Correnti helped create the company’s $1.3 billion plant, plus two steel mills for Charlotte, N.C., near Blytheville.
