Average Hourly Wage in Construction Climbs 2.8%

September 8, 2015

Average hourly earnings for all employees in construction increased 2.8 percent from August 2014 to August 2015, the steepest rise since October 2009, according to the AGC Data DIGest.

AGC Chief Economist Ken Simonson says the slow growth in construction employment and decline in the pool of experienced job seekers, despite acceleration in wages and spending and steady growth in design work, suggest contractors are experiencing greater difficulty finding qualified new hires.
