Arkansas to Put GPS on All State Highway Vehicles

July 27, 2012

Arkansas will install Global Positioning System devices in each of the state Highway and Transportation Department’s 2,400 vehicles.

Highway director Scott Bennett told The Arkansas News that the move would save the state money by improving preventive maintenance. Although initial rollout will be to state vehicles, contruction equipment will also be fitted.

The $700,000 cost for the program will be recouped within eight months, Bennett said.
