Ahern Rentals has filed for an extension in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, saying that it has not had enough time to make the evaluations necessary to file a reorganization plan, Rental Equipment Register reports.
The company is seeking until Aug. 20 to file the plan, and then Oct. 19 to query its creditors about the plan. Ahern also hopes the time period will mitigate rival proposals from companies hoping to take over the rental firm.
Platinum Equity has been identified by Businessweek.com as one such suitor. The original deadline for presentation of Ahern's plan is in April, with approval from creditors sought in June.
