Hunzinger Construction, Brookfield, was one of a select group of contractors honored by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) for having a proven safety record and a cultural commitment to safety. The recognition came during the AGC's recent national convention in San Antonio, Texas.

The only winner from Wisconsin, Hunzinger received third-place honors among companies that worked 300,001 to 700,000 hours in 2006.

AGC's awards program requires finalists to have no worksite fatalities and also examines the contractor's safety program. Thorough screening ensures that companies in the competition are committed to worksite safety at every level, have a successful safety training program, work site hazard identification and control program, and innovative safety program. At the convention, finalists presented their safety programs to a panel of safety experts, who made the selections.
