AGC Of America Convention Awards

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) recently presented the 2007 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Awards to the construction companies that best exemplify the spirit of partnering. Hensel Phelps Construction Co. was a winner for the Federal Correctional Institution in Butner, N.C.

The AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards are given to contractors with a proven safety record and cultural commitment to safety. In Construction's region, Blythe Construction, Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., won a first place Construction Safety Excellence Award in the Highway Division (300,001–700,000 work hours). Young & McQueen Grading Company, Inc. in Burnsville, N.C., won a second place award in the Heavy Division (100,001–300,000 work hours)

Aon Build America Awards were presented to Clark Construction Group for the U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters in Washington, D.C., and Barton Malow Company for the John Paul Jones Arena at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Goel Services, Inc. won a Merit Award for Federal Office Building No. 8 in Washington, D.C.
