Will McFadyen, McFadyen & Associates, led off AEMP’s Conexpo-Con/Agg sessions on the AEMP telematics standard on Monday by announcing the release of Version 1.2.

The update amends minor omissions in the programming, but does not change the standard itself. Those revisions, McFadyen says, were made “for clarity and to improve consistency,” and include the addition of fields for “altitude units” on the Location data; “Reset Date/Time” to Fuel Used; and changed “service meter hours” to “cumulative operating hours.”

AEMP also acted to clear up misconceptions about the standard by stating that it is not a replacement of telematics providers’ websites or web applications; is not a means for retrieving highly detailed information that may be OEM- or telematic provider-centric; and is not a means to share equipment or fleet information between OEMs or providers in an “unauthorized manner.”
