Early morning drivers on Highway 13 in Phillips, Wisconsin, called the Phillips fire department to report Xcel Energy's utility garage and storage building was on fire February 5.
When firefighters arrived, the building was already engulfed in flames. Phillips Fire Chief Jim Pisca said, "Once those tires, hydraulic oil and diesel fuel get going, it doesn't take long."
Xcel spokesperson said some of the destroyed vehicles including digger and bucket trucks were valued at more than $250,000 each. No employees were in the building when the fire broke out around 4:30 in the morning.
