51-100 Vehicle Fleets Have Highest Truck Age

According to NTEA’s 2019 Fleet Purchasing Outlook, fleets with 51-100 vehicles reported the highest average truck age, with 28 percent citing vehicles at least 10 years old.

Compared to 2018 data, fleets of that size with more than 5,000 vehicles have documented aging, with declines of 13 percentage points and 17 percentage points in vehicles less than five years old. Fleets with less than 10 trucks reported a 10-percentage point shift toward newer vehicles, with 41 percent having an average truck age less than 5 years old compared to 31 percent in 2018.
