September 17, 2015

Three people were injured when a telehandler struck a small dump truck, reports WBNG.

According to New York state troopers, the accident happened when the engine on the telehandler failed, and operator lost control over the brakes and steering.

The machine continued down a hill and collided with a small dump truck. Both pieces of equipment were pushed into a hole where workers were placing a new culvert pipe, according to WBNG.

Two medical helicopters flew to scene of the accident, to airlift two out of the three injured people to a nearby hospital. The operator was taken by ambulance with minor injuries. One of the injured was a bystander observing the project. He and the other worker are in critical condition.
