Wink Trailer

Sept. 27, 2011

Plastic and aluminum are combined in two lightweight end-dump semitrailers from Wink Trailer. The “Innovator” half-round and “Revolutionizer” flat-side models use aluminum frames with polyethelene plastic sheeting to reduce weight and cost compared to all-aluminum bodies. UHMW (ultra high-molecular-weight) plastic, commonly used in dump liners to reduce freezing and sticking of loads, forms the sides and bottom; they float in the aluminum framework and can be replaced if damaged. A 39-foot half-round Revolutionizer weighs about 10,000 pounds.
