Volvo L250G Wheel Loader

April 27, 2011

The 39-ton L250G wheel loader is designed to suit on-highway truck loading operations. In North America, the loader’s new 9-cubic-yard rehandling bucket is said to fill a tri-axle, on-highway truck in two passes. Volvo notes that this machine is aimed at filling the need to move from three-pass to two-pass loading for finished aggregate materials. The machine is powered by a Tier 4-I 13-liter engine with cooled exhaust gas recirculation and a particulate filter with active regeneration.

Producing 389 horsepower, the engine drives a load-sensing hydraulic system and an automatic powershift transmission. Available with optional OptiShift lock-up torque converter and freewheel stator, Volvo says up to 15 percent fuel savings can be achieved.
