Volvo EC20D Excavator Upgrades to T4-F

The EC20D compact excavator has been upgraded to meet Tier 4-Final requirements with a Volvo D0.9A diesel that produces 16.3 horsepower. If equipped with the optional auto engine shutdown feature, Volvo says, the machine can be 10 percent more fuel efficient that the predecessor. An automatic idling system comes standard.

The swing frame, boom and arm ends are cast, and hardened pins and bushings keep tight pivot tolerances, Volvo says, and are backed by the Volvo Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty.

Daily service points are centrally grouped under the newly redesigned rear engine hood. With the Volvo patented multifunctional hydraulic oil filter, filtration occurs when the tank is filled. While the machine is working, the oil returns via the drain lines through the filter, ensuring constant filtration.

Maximum lifting capacity is 1,195 pounds at ground level with the blade down. The hydraulically extendable undercarriage that can be extended or retracted to suit applications. Maximum hydraulic flow for attachments is 11.4 gallons, and in-cab flow adjustment matches the attachment speed to operator needs.

The boom is slightly offset to the left, which helps maintain visibility when working in tight spaces. The swing post and cylinder stay within the track width when offset to the left.
