[VIDEO] Create a Watermelon Construction Site

March 27, 2020

If you’re searching for a kid-friendly quarantine activity within the construction realm, creating a watermelon work site may be the project for you. KSAT Kids has a “snacktivity” that is said to encourage creativity.

According to KSAT, simply cutting a watermelon in half and digging into the fruit with spoons, popsicle sticks, or digging toys creates a personal fruit-site.

Incorporating additional fruit, such as blueberries to “fill holes” and carry around the work site also adds to the experience. If you have picky eaters at home, this also allows them to “warm up” to the fruit by experiencing its texture before actually eating it.

“They will sit and play with this for a while as you can see,” says Kara Livingston of Simply Whole Moms, a website offering easy, nutritional recipes. “They’re very entertained by it.”
