The D60x90 S3 horizontal directional drill has 60,000 pounds of thrust/pullback and 9,000 lb.-ft. of rotational torque. The 202-horsepower Caterpillar engine is Tier 4-Final. A 107 dB(A) guaranteed sound power level and an operator ear rating of 82 dB(A) make the drill 10 points quieter than its Series II predecessor, according to the company.
The climate-controlled cab has a control system common to all S3 series drills, and includes the digital display, improved onboard diagnostics, and joystick controls. The system design uses a power distribution module that reduces the amount of wiring and fuses.
Two drill rod options are available: a 2.875-inch diameter, 15-foot Firestick; or a 3.5-inch diameter, 15-foot Firestick. The drill can carry 600 feet of 2.875-inch drill rods
