Takeuchi TW65, TW80 Wheel Loaders

Aug. 27, 2014

Two new Series 2 compact wheel loaders, the TW65 and TW80, meet Tier 4-Final emissions standards with a 73-horsepower water-cooled Deutz diesel that uses only a diesel oxidation catalyst in its exhaust after-treatment system. Operating weights for the new loaders are 11,354 and 12,700 pounds, respectively, rated operating capacities 4,050 and 4,445 pounds, fully raised dump heights 97 and 102 inches, and bucket-breakout forces 11,600 and 13,960 pounds.

According to Takeuchi, the new loaders feature increased performance, improved serviceability, and an enhanced operator’s environment. In the cab, air conditioner and heater are standard, and a new multi-function, pilot-operated joystick controls all loader, travel, and auxiliary-hydraulic functions, the latter with a proportional thumb wheel. The automotive-styled cab features a frameless door for enhanced visibility, and the armrest/controller console is adjustable.

The two-speed hydrostatic drive system for the new machines features an inching pedal that provides ground-speed control at high engine speeds for precise attachment control. Rigid axles have outboard planetary drives, differential locks in both axles for added traction in poor underfoot conditions, and wet multi-disc service brakes. Standard travel speed is 12.4 mph; an optional high-speed road-gear system increases top speed to 24.8 mph.

The TW65 Series 2 and TW80 Series 2 have auxiliary-hydraulic systems that deliver 16.4 gpm at a main pressure of 3,335 psi. An optional auxiliary system boosts flow to 26.0 gpm, allowing use of more demanding powered attachments. Auxiliary lines are plumbed to the end of the loader arms, and the new models feature Z-bar loader linkage and with a hydraulic quick coupler. An available Combo hitch allows adapting to a universal, skid steer loader-type coupler. Attachments include 48-inch pallet forks and 82-inch bolt-on blade.
